Description
Job Summary:  
Responsible for managing and directing all plant activities on a day-to-day basis to ensure quality of product and customer satisfaction; for meeting all GOH, state and local regulations; and for developing, motivating, and leading plant personnel in a safe and productive working atmosphere.  This salaried, exempt position will work with indirect supervision.

Essential Functions:
* Manage financial aspects of asphalt plant to protect company’s interest.  
* Daily plan, prioritize, schedule, supervise and coordinate activities of plant operation, production, maintenance and personnel.
* Supervise and coordinate daily, weekly, monthly and annual preventative maintenance and repairs to the plant.
* Ensure company meets all governmental guidelines/regulations.  Maintain records of performance and compliance.
* Effectively communicate in a timely manner with customers, and internal departments (i.e. sales, maintenance, construction, trucking, etc.) to ensure goals are being achieved.
* Ensure proper inventory control/ordering of aggregate and AC products on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.  
* Responsible for recruiting, training, hiring and firing employees to consistently improve plant workforce.
* Assess skills and abilities of staff to fully and efficiently maximize their contributions to the team.
* Provide leadership, guidance, training, evaluation, rewards and discipline when necessary to ensure the safety of personnel and assist in the personal and professional growth of each team member.
* Maintain daily, weekly, monthly performance standards and report to management.
* Exercise proper care and maintenance of company equipment.
* Frequently work more than 40 hours per week and non-traditional hours including night shift, Saturdays and occasionally Sundays.
* Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.

Knowledge of:
* Hot mix plant (batch and drum operations) safety, operations and equipment.
* Maintenance procedures for the operation of hot mix plant and associated equipment.
* Mix designs, asphalt and aggregates.

Ability to:
* Learn, follow and enforce company policies and procedures.
* Demonstrate effective problem solving.
* Multi-task.
* Delegate tasks and evaluate the performance of others.
* Perform basic accounting and computer skills.
* Work with indirect supervision.

Qualifications:
* Must have proven experience and working knowledge of hot mix operations (Batch and Drum Operations).
* Must have effective interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.

Education:
* Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent required.
* Associate’s degree in a technical field preferred.

Experience:
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in hot mix operations required.
* Quality control technician experience preferred.
* Asphalt plant operator experience preferred.

* MSHA ART/NM/ENM (Plants 1 & 5)
* CPR/First Aid 
* 8 Hour Arc Flash
* OSHA 10 Hour
* Bearing, Gear Box, Welding, and Torch Training
* Asphalt Plant School
* Screen Bearings
* Computer Skills
* Production and Efficiency Mobile Equipment Training
* Drug Free Workplace

Physical Requirements:
* Constant (67-100%)- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
* Frequently (34-66%)- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
* Occasionally (0-33%)- Ability to work in a plant environment with exposure to dust, fumes, noise, extreme temperatures and confined spaces.
* Occasionally (0-33%)- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
* Occasionally (0-33%)- Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
* Occasionally (0-33%)- Ability to physically climb to top of silos and perform work.
