Description
Job Summary:
Analyze and prepare various cost estimates and projections to support GOH's Plants and Equipment Operations. Work closely with Accounting, Estimating, Plants and Equipment Leadership to develop and monitor cost budgets and report on variances, as well as help to develop operational solutions. This exempt position works with indirect supervision and reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Essential Functions:
*Work with leaders across various operations in preparing, monitoring, and reporting on variances of cost budgets as well as help develop operational solutions.
*Monitor Plant and Equipment costs to develop and refine internal transfer cost.
*Suggest and help implement improvements to the cost budgeting, operational and estimating process.
*Work with estimators in preparing and submitting bids to include: bid setup, material pricing, requesting hauling quotes, and bid submittal.
*Calculate load cost per ton of aggregate and asphalt material plants.
*Review recycled asphalt product (RAP) cost, and update asphalt pricing as needed.
*Calculate job cost, monthly overhead and review category rate for GOH equipment.
*Run cost per region and calculate current overhead for the transportation of asphalt and aggregate material between plant locations.
*Update material, equipment, and labor costs in HCSS and Heavy Bid software.
*Calculate monthly projections including; Diesel index adjustments, Asphalt index adjustments, and Recycled topsoil inventory.
*Establish yearly time and equipment rates.
*Select, hire, train, and manage assigned Cost Accountants.
*Exercise proper care and maintenance of company equipment.
*Frequently work more than 40 hours per weeks.
*Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
*General accounting processes and report preparation.
*Budgeting and cost accounting principles.
*Knowledge of the heavy construction industry is a plus.
Ability to:
*Learn and follow GOH company policies and procedures.
*Direct the work of others.
*Work efficiently and complete tasks quickly and accurately.
*Work effectively with people in various levels of the organization.
Qualifications:
*Effective interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.
*Strong typing, data entry and computer skills.
*Demonstrate above average organizational, analytical and memory skills to effectively and efficiently handle multiple priorities with short deadlines.
Education:
*Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
Experience:
*Minimum of 5 years of costing experience is required.
